Symptoms: brown lesions on the roots, especially the subcrown internode. Under severe conditions, lesions can become nearly black with brown tissue extending into the crown and leaf sheaths. Stunted plants with reduced tillering and yield. Heads can be white with fewer kernels that are small and shriveled.
